The developers of the privacy-focused search engine DuckDuckGo have announced the development of a desktop application for web browsing.

The creators promise that it will not have complex settings, misleading warnings and “levels” of user data security – only strong privacy protection that works by default in search, when viewing email and much more.

Such an application will prevent companies from spying on users and accessing their search queries and browsing history, the developers of DuckDuckGo added.

The program will not only have a clean and understandable interface, but also high speed work. In preliminary tests, it was even faster than Google's Chrome. In addition, the app will include some of DuckDuckGo's signature features, including a “Fire” button that instantly erases browsing history and saved data.

The macOS version of the browser is already being tested, but work is also underway on the Windows app. No release date has been announced yet.
