An enthusiast created the Mappin website, which turns a map of any corner of the Earth into a stylish high-resolution poster that can be printed and hung at home, or given to a travel lover.< /p>
It works very simply. On a one-page site, there is a preview window in which the desired area of the map is selected. Scale it to your liking, choose the format (horizontal or vertical) and customize the color scheme (5 stylized colors available in total, plus the original colors from Google Maps). After that click on the Create your free image now button.
Creating a finished map can take up to 2 minutes . When everything is ready, you will have the opportunity to download the image. There are no file settings: you automatically get a PNG at a resolution of 5120 × 7240 pixels.
This is connected and limitation: if you select too large a scale, the system will not be able to save enough map detail, so you will be asked to zoom in.
