WhatsApp is active finalizes the mechanics of disappearing messages: in April, they began testing the cancellation of self-destruction of individual messages, and now they plan to enable self-destruction for old chats – moreover, en masse.
The change was noticed in the beta version of WhatsApp 2.22. 16.8. In the settings for self-destructing messages in new chats, a button has appeared that allows you to select old chats and apply the selected options to them. For example, if in new chats all messages are deleted after 90 days, the same will work for manually selected conversations.
The section is located quite deep in the settings, which may not be very convenient. On the other hand, this is not a feature that users will access all the time, so it is logical that the developers left the more popular items in sight.
It is not yet clear when to wait for the public release: now the function is not even available to all users beta.
