Microsoft support commented on the ban on downloading Windows 10 and 11 from Russia

Last week, users from Russia encountered problems downloading Windows 10 and 11 from the official Microsoft website. An error appeared when trying to download a utility for installing the OS or a system image.

Microsoft did not comment on these problems in any way, but one of the employees of the company's English-language support service said that a ban on downloading and installing files from the territory of Russia and Belarus was introduced by government order. Kommersant writes about this.

What kind of order, for how long it was introduced and whether it has any other restrictions, is not specified. There is still no official announcement from Microsoft.

Anyone who wants to upgrade to Windows 11 or download an ISO image from the company's website should use a VPN. There are no problems with geolocation substitution.
