Microsoft has released the autumn update of Windows 10 and announced the terms of support for the OS

Microsoft has announced the release of the November update (21H2) for Windows 10. Build received the number 19044. The distribution will be gradual, as always.

Some of the main improvements are:

  • add support for WPA3 H2E standards to improve Wi-Fi security;
  • Simplified Windows Hello for Business passwordless login method;
  • Support for GPU computing in Windows Subsystem for Linux (WSL) and Azure IoT Edge for Linux.

To check if an update is available, open Settings → Update & Security → Windows Update and select Check for Updates.

The developers also announced that t Windows 10 is now moving to annual feature updates (up from two a year earlier) to keep up with the rhythm of Windows 11. So, the next update is scheduled only for the second half of 2022.

At least one version of Windows 10 will be officially be supported until October 14, 2025. Home and Pro will be covered for 18 months, and Enterprise and Education for 30 months.

Microsoft also reminded that all editions of Windows 10 version 2004 will end service on December 14, 2021, while Enterprise and Education editions of the system will end 1909 – until May 10, 2022. Devices running versions 1909 and 2004 will no longer receive monthly security updates.
