Enthusiasts have taken notice of images of the popular “brain trick” that circulates on the Internet: two images show the same text, but in one version, the beginning of the words is in bold. The authors of such pictures draw attention to the fact that text with highlighted letters is read faster and easier than usual.
The idea here is the same as in popular posts like this is a spoiler, because the first letters will fit on their own mseaths. The fact is that our brain does not need to see the entire sequence of letters in order to understand what kind of word we see: it reads a couple of characters, the form of the word and completes the rest in a split second.
Highlighting the first letters further simplifies the work of this natural “auto-correction”: there is no need to spend extra time to split the sentence into separate words. This is exactly what the Jiffy Reader extension does. Compare for yourself:
The extension works as simple as possible: after installing it, you can enable or disable the fast reading mode, as well as set the accent interval (for example, to highlight not every word, but after 1-4), as well as set the number of characters that will be highlighted in each word : 1 to 3.
