The feature is already being tested. jpg” alt=”Good news: WhatsApp will allow sending files up to 2 GB” />
In the beta version of WhatsApp for iOS and Android, the limit on sending files has been increased to 2 GB for some users in Argentina. However, the stable version of the application still allows you to share files no larger than 100 MB.
The increased limit was also noticed on iOS (version apps 188.8.131.52), and on Android (builds 184.108.40.206, 220.127.116.11 and 18.104.22.168). It is not yet clear how soon it will be available to users in other countries and extended to standard builds.
The change is likely due to the ongoing rivalry between WhatsApp and Telegram. Pavel Durov's messenger has increased the limit on sending files from 1.5 to 2 GB since 2020, while WhatsApp has kept the limit to 100 MB all these years.
