Instagram* announced several important changes to the service. First, new videos that are less than 15 minutes long will be posted as Reels. Previously posted videos will remain regular posts.

If you have a public account, your new videos – now Reels – can be recommended to other users, which will increase their views. Previously, this only worked for posts less than 90 seconds long.

The “Videos” and “Reels” tabs on your profile will be merged so that all the videos are in one place.

The second change is the expansion of the “remix” capabilities – now they can use public photos. Also added are new layouts and the ability to insert your Reels right after the original video. New templates are also available for Reels.

All changes are being introduced gradually and will be available to all users soon.
