There will be three versions for different devices at once.
A lot of attention was paid to the presentation of new security features. In particular, face scanning now also reads the upper body, analyzing the user's build so that someone with a similar face but a different figure cannot unlock the device.
Another initiative on the path to user security was “digital fraud protection”. It consists of a database of sites and devices, the connection to which can compromise personal data, as well as phone numbers that may belong to scammers. If you receive a call from such a number, the system will display a warning. It is not yet known if this will work outside of China.
Visually, the system was also finalized: the font was replaced with MiSans – simplified and more symmetrical compared to what is currently used. In addition, we added new animated wallpapers and redesigned widgets so that they appear on the screen in neat rows.
A useful innovation was the Mi Magic Center page, which displays all devices available to the user from the Xiaomi ecosystem. It allows you to transfer a file or start playback on another device by simply dragging the media file icon to the desired location on the screen.
At the same time, they showed the MIUI 13 Pad, which is designed for devices with large screens. Xiaomi Pad 5 and Pad 5 Pro tablets will receive it, while Mi MIX Fold will be the first device with MIUI Fold firmware adapted for foldable devices.
The tablet version will get support for unique gestures, including dragging windows across the screen, zooming in with two fingers, dragging files, and opening apps as thumbnails. Xiaomi claims that more than 3,000 apps have already been adapted for the tablet version.
In addition, Xiaomi has revealed the timing for the first wave of updates – separately for Chinese and global devices.
