Apple announced

Apple has officially announced a new security feature for its devices called “Lockdown Mode” or Lockdown Mode. It offers additional protection to users who may be at risk of targeted cyberattacks from private companies.

Apple announced

This mode will appear on devices with iOS 16, iPadOS 16 and macOS Ventura in the fall. When enabled, it will activate the following protections:

  • Block the ability to view most types of attachments in messages – only images will be available. Some features, such as link previews, will also be disabled.
  • Disable complex web technologies (such as JIT compilation of JavaScript) when browsing the web, unless the user excludes the site.
  • Block all incoming invitations and requests to Apple services, including FaceTime calls, unless the user has previously sent a request or called the caller.
  • Bar all wired connections to the computer or connections to accessories when iPhone is locked.
  • Prohibits installation of configuration profiles and enrollment of the device in mobile device management (MDM).

To enter “Lockdown Mode”, the device will need reload.
