Enthusiasts have launched the WatchTube app, which allows you to watch YouTube videos on your Apple Watch. It works independently of the smartphone and does not require complex configuration.
Of course, the interface has been adapted to the watch screen. The application has four sections: home, search, library and settings. Trending videos are displayed on the main page by default, if you wish, you can configure a specific video category for this tab.
Search works best on Apple Watch 7 with a full keyboard, on older models you will have to use dictation, or draw each character by hand. There is no synchronization with iPhone or YouTube account: the application is completely local. However, you can subscribe to your favorite channels for quick access, but it works like bookmarks: the number of subscribers the user will not increase.
In the future, the developers plan to add an audio-only playback mode so that you can listen to music or podcasts with the screen.
WatchTube is available for free on the App Store and runs on Apple Watch with watchOS 6 and later.
